For too long, high fidelity Montessori programs have been expensive and therefore out-of-reach for many children. Over half of the 15,000 children in our Chicago neighborhood live below the poverty line. Humboldt Park Montessori provides a place that feels like home to every child and caregiver that walks through our doors. We work diligently to serve our school families and, in doing so, make the world a better place.

Nearly ten years ago, a group of Humboldt Park parents united around the common dream to bring Montessori education to our Chicago neighborhood.

We believe in an education that focuses on the whole child, developing social and emotional skills and empowering children to think creatively in their studies

Humboldt Park Montessori is a community that believes in tearing down barriers of structural racism and inaccessibility in order to make Montessori education possible for as many families as possible.

Humboldt Park Montessori opened its first classroom in 2015 with eight children. In our 2023-2024 school year we will serve 70 children in 4 classrooms. Our school follows four guiding principles.

Montessori creates a beautiful environment for children to follow their own internal motivations and learn at their own pace through one-on-one or small group lessons.

We honor each child’s learning journey.

On a daily basis, our children are surrounded with lessons and literature that promote a global worldview and anti-bias/anti-racist action. Additionally, our equity-based tuition structure means that all families can choose Montessori education for their child, regardless of family income.

We commit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
